Our Featured Staff Member: Star Ramos

WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT TO RECOGNIZE OUR FEATURED STAFF MEMBER, STAR RAMOS! SHE IS THE UNIT DIRECTOR AT OUR IVANHOE CLUB AND SHE HAS BEEN WITH US FOR ALMOST THREE YEARS.

Star decided to work as a Unit Director because her passion is serving her community and providing a safe environment for her members, where they can thrive and become productive members of society. She has a personal connection to her Club because she grew up in Ivanhoe and feels blessed to be able to give back!

Star said, "I make a positive impact on local youth with a positive attitude. I am not only a Unit Director, but I am also a mentor to the kids I work with. I like to listen to my kids and make sure they know their feelings and opinions matter."

During these past few months, Star and her team have been working hard to keep in touch with their members. They have been communicating with them via phone calls, creating & distributing activity/worksheet packages for them to enjoy, and serving snacks daily to them and all the kids in the community. Also, they have recently begun meeting with members via Zoom twice a week for virtual programming. They even created candy grams for members who were promoting and graduating this year!

"This experience has made me appreciate the work I do when members are around, and it has also made me miss the kids very much," said Star, in regards to providing our services during the pandemic.
