Become a Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias. We are a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring young people to become productive members of society. Please fill out the application. By submitting this form it gives authorization to run a background check.

Types of volunteers we’re looking for:

Individual

After School Assistant Volunteer: provides assistance in all areas of the Club. Assistants work directly with Club members and staff by providing tutoring and/or homework help, assisting with program activities and providing vital mentorship to our Club members. Many of our After School Assistant volunteers thoroughly enjoy their experience and go on to become After School staff members.

Enrichment Volunteer: Enrichment volunteers partner with our Club staff and create a short specialized skill course that is taught over a period of time. Past enrichment volunteers have taught classes in: dance, arts and crafts, sports, cooking, music, sewing, knitting/crochet, etc.

Special Event Volunteers: Special event volunteers assist with occasional events such as fundraisers and national days of service.

Youth Volunteers: We gladly accept youth volunteers that need to fulfill any volunteering hours assigned by academic programs.Youth under the age of 18 who wish to volunteer are required to first become a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias before applying to volunteer.

We welcome your group to volunteer at one or several of our Clubs to create a unique project and experience with your organization and our Club.

Steps for becoming a new volunteer

The process to become a new volunteer takes between 1-2 weeks.

1. Application and Interview:

All volunteers must fill out an application so that we can get to know you and find the best placement for your valuable skills. Once your application is reviewed you will be contacted for a phone and/or in person interview.

2. Background and Reference Check

All volunteers over the age of 18 will undergo a background and reference check. The background check takes about a week to process and it is of no cost to you.

3. Orientation and Training

Successful volunteer candidates will be contacted to attend orientation and training.
