WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT TO RECOGNIZE TOM JOHNSON, WHO HAS BEEN PART OF THE BGCS FAMILY FOR OVER 20 YEARS NOW! DURING HIS TIME ON OUR BOARD HE HAS SERVED AS PRESIDENT AND IS CURRENTLY A MEMBER OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.

Tom is retired from several careers, most recently as Secretary of Veterans Affairs for California and as the past CEO at Kaweah Delta Medical Center. He is a resident of Visalia and has been so for 47 years.

Aside from serving on our board, Tom contributes to the Club by participating in fund-raising efforts and helping with specific Club activities like preparing the garden at the Visalia Gindick Club. In the past, he has also helped in reading programs. Overall, Tom is passionate about helping insure that community support is there for our local youth!

Tom said, “It's tough growing up in today's environment and our youth need all the help they can get; from school, from their family, and from their community—the Club is an important part of that community support system. Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias is important in the lives of many children and young adults who need encouragement, support, mentoring and a safe place to congregate between school and family time."

"The Club is led by an amazing group of professionals who develop and oversee programs that make a positive impact on Club members. I know my financial support is being well spent and being used carefully and constructively. The Club is part of the community support network that helps youth from all walks of life to become better people and to achieve their full potential. It is a safe place where the youth can build their character and receive the support and encouragement they need to become contributing members of society.” said Tom.

Our BGCS Family appreciates and thanks Tom Johnson for dedicating himself to supporting the youth in our community! Thank you, Tom!
